Russian fishermen have had a productive year, catching over 925 thousand tons of pollock, including a significant amount in the Sea of Okhotsk, and setting a record for pollock catch in 2024 with 1.998 million tons. There is an expectation to supply China with 1,000 tons of pollock roe in 2025, with potential for this to increase to 5,000 tons in the next few years. Currently, pollock caviar exports from Russia amount to 37,000 tons, worth $194 million, with Japan and South Korea being the main markets. A program has been launched to promote pollock caviar in China, positioning it as a premium product. Domestic demand for pollock caviar in Russia is also on the rise.
