(Seoul=Yonhap News) Reporter Jeong Su-yeon = The Seocho District Office (Mayor Jeon Sung-su) announced on the 6th that it will recruit participants for the 'Eco-friendly Urban Farmland' to enable district residents to experience eco-friendly agriculture and enjoy a healthy leisure life in the city. This year's allocation size is 503 plots (10㎡ per plot) in four locations: Cheongryong, Sinheung, Angol, and Hwachorong. Last year's competition rate per plot was 2.8 to 1 for Cheongryong, 1.5 to 1 for Sinheung, 1.3 to 1 for Hwachorong, and 1 to 1 for Angol. Applications are accepted from Seocho District residents and organizations from 10:00 AM on the 9th to 6:00 PM on the 20th via the Seocho District Office's website. On-site applications are only possible for seniors aged 65 and over and individuals with disabilities, provided they bring supporting documents. The application limit is one plot per household for individuals and up to two plots for organizations. Participants who are selected through a lottery and whose allocation is confirmed must pay the allocation fee within the deadline: 100,000 won for Cheongryong and Sinheung, and 70,000 won for Angol and Hwachorong. National and public institutions and public organizations can use it free of charge. The usage period is from April 4 to November 30. On opening days, on-site farming education will be conducted for novice farmers, and seedlings such as lettuce will be distributed, and seeds and seed potatoes will be sold at a low price.
