Russia: In the Astrakhan region, commercial fish catch is planned to be maintained at the level of last year

The volume of commercial catch in the Astrakhan region by the end of 2024 is planned to be maintained at the level of last year's figures - 36.8 thousand tons, taking into account the restrictions introduced this year on the catch of roach, bream and black-backed herring. This was reported to TASS by the regional Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries. The Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation has banned industrial and amateur fishing of roach in the Astrakhan region and in the Caspian Sea until the end of this year, with the exception of ten days in April. It is also prohibited to catch roach in seven districts of the Astrakhan region and black-backed herring. The governor of the Astrakhan region stated that the roach population is on the verge of extinction.
