The Astrakhan region in Russia is planning to maintain the commercial catch volume at 36.8 thousand tons by the end of 2024, the same as last year, despite restrictions on certain fish species. The region has banned industrial and amateur fishing of roach until the end of the year and has also banned catching black-backed herring in seven districts. The total permitted production volume for 2024 is 53 thousand tons. The autumn fishing season has already seen 19.2 thousand tons of fish caught. The fishing industry is crucial to the Astrakhan region, with around 230 businesses involved.
