In the first half of this year, Turkey's hazelnut exports reached a revenue of $1.38 billion from selling 148,526 tons to 120 countries, with Germany, Italy, and France being the top buyers. Trabzon province was the main contributor, exporting 52,000 tons earning $393.11 million, to 59 countries. Despite the COVID-19 pandemic, there has been a 5% increase in both quantity and value compared to the previous season. Mehmet Cirav, the chairman of the Hazelnut and Products Sector Committee of the Eastern Black Sea Exporters' Association (DKİB), is optimistic about the future of the hazelnut export market, expecting prices to be announced before the new harvest and looking forward to favorable weather conditions for a good export season.
