[Agricultural and Fisheries Technology Newspaper=Reporter Nara Park] As winter cold waves continue to hit without respite, the Chungnam Agricultural Technology Institute has urged livestock farmers to thoroughly manage and prevent against the cold. Emphasizing the importance of on-site implementation of the "three major management rules (keeping warm, ventilation, and fire prevention)" for the health of livestock and to prevent barn fires, the institute stated, "With the recent sharp drop in temperatures, there is a significant risk of decreased immunity in major livestock such as Hanwoo cattle, dairy cows, and pigs." They added, "It is crucial to ensure that basic management, including maintaining warmth inside the barn, ventilation, and checking heating equipment, is carried out perfectly." Especially for young pigs that huddle under heat lamps to maintain body temperature, temperature management is directly linked to their survival.
