In 2025, the global production of cereals (including rice in flour equivalent), as forecasted, will exceed the 2024 levels by 4.4 percent and reach a new record high of 2,990 million tons. It is expected that the production of all major cereals will increase, with the largest growth demonstrated by corn production and the smallest by rice. It is forecasted that the production volumes of corn and rice will reach new record levels. Global cereal consumption in the 2025–2026 season is expected to be at 2,929 million tons, which is 51.9 million tons, or 1.8 percent, higher than the 2024–2025 season level.
