In Ukraine, amid shortage, last year's beets are becoming more expensive: how much does a kilogram cost?

Last year's beet continues to rise in price in Ukraine. Trading activity has increased significantly against the backdrop of a shortage of local quality vegetables on the market. Analysts from the EastFruit project noted that currently producers are already selling beets at 25-33 UAH/kg ($1.04-1.26/kg), which is on average 10% more expensive than at the end of the last working week. Market participants explain the new round of beet price increases by increased demand from wholesale companies and retail chains and the depletion of stocks of quality vegetables. Thus, beet prices in Ukraine are already on average 36% higher than last year's. It is noted that further price increases should be expected. In Auchan, the vegetable is sold for 38.90 UAH/kg.
