Large agricultural holdings in Ukraine have completely abandoned buckwheat cultivation. Due to the lack of state support, it is mostly grown by small farmers and medium-sized farms. This was reported by Serhiy Hromoviy, the executive director of the International Buckwheat Association, to UNIAN. "One-third is cultivated by individual farmers. These are simply peasants who sow buckwheat in their gardens. There is an old woman, she has a hectare of garden – there is buckwheat, rye, potatoes, or something else. And she changes these proportions every year. Another third are small farmers with 50-200 hectares of land, and the last third are medium-sized farms," explains the expert.
