In the first eight months of 2021, Chile's imports of Paraguayan beef surged by 117% to USD 493.04 million, more than doubling the previous year's record, making Paraguay the leading beef supplier to Chile with a 46.7% market share. This significant increase resulted in a total import volume of 96,745 tons, up by 80% from the same period in 2020. Throughout 2021, the import volume is expected to surpass the entire year's total from 2020. Additionally, the average price per ton of Chilean meat imported rose by 21% to USD 5096, contributing to a total import value that is poised to exceed USD 500 million for the first time.
