Despite a slight decrease in fishing vessel arrivals, Lerwick Harbour experienced a surge in activity in 2023, with a 14% increase in whitefish boxes landed, a 39% rise in ferry passengers, and a record number of cruise ship visitors. The port also saw a 33% increase in the tonnage of ships piloted and a 5% increase in vessel arrivals. Additionally, offshore industry traffic saw a 12% rise in oil-related shipping. However, there was a 1% decrease in overall cargo due to a drop in roll-on/roll-off shipments.
