A study conducted in Jodhpur, Rajasthan, India, by a team of researchers evaluated the performance of a specific cucumber type under three protected structures: naturally ventilated polyhouse (NVP), insect proof net house (INH), and shade net house (SNH). The research found that the NVP provided the most favorable conditions for cucumber growth, resulting in significantly higher yields compared to the other structures. The NVP provided lower air and soil temperatures, higher relative humidity, and optimal radiation, which collectively led to better plant growth and physiological activity. The findings suggest that the NVP is the best low-technology protected structure for cucumber cultivation in Indian hot arid regions.
