India's wheat production for 2023 is projected to increase by 4.1% to a record 112.2 million tonnes due to higher prices encouraging farmers to grow more of high-yielding varieties and favourable weather conditions. The country is considering extending its wheat export ban to replenish state reserves and lower domestic prices. In addition to wheat, the government anticipates record production of rapeseed, expected to increase by 7.1% to 12.8 million tonnes, and rice production is predicted to rise to 22.76 million tonnes from 18.47 million tonnes a year earlier.
