India and Canada have successfully negotiated market access for Indian bananas and baby corn, marking a significant achievement that is expected to positively impact Indian farmers and boost India's export earnings. The agreement, reached between Manoj Ahuja, Secretary, Department of Agriculture and Farmers' Welfare, Government of India, and Cameron MacKay, Canadian High Commissioner, enables the export of fresh baby corn to Canada starting April 2022, following updated import requirements. Furthermore, Canada has approved fresh bananas for entry, highlighting the nutritional benefits of this globally important fruit. India, being the world's largest banana producer, will now expand its export portfolio, while baby corn, known for its nutritional value and growing demand, offers a promising market opportunity for Indian farmers.
