In 2023, Indonesia's state-owned logistics agency, Perum Bulog, has imported 18,000 tons of buffalo meat from India out of a total procured volume of 100,000 tons. This meat, currently stored at the Port of Tanjung Priok in Jakarta, will be distributed across Indonesia, with a preference for DKI Jakarta. The meat will be available for purchase through contracts with Bulog and at retail levels, with a set price of IDR 85,000 to IDR 90,000 per kg. Bulog will regulate the import based on demand and has set limits for individual retail purchases. Companies can also buy in larger quantities after providing a 50% payment in advance. The meat has a shelf life of approximately one month.
