Indonesia has approved the use of HB4 wheat for human and animal consumption, following suit from Brazil. Both countries are major importers of Argentine wheat, with Indonesia being the main export destination since 2016. This approval is part of a larger global trend of countries endorsing HB4 wheat, a drought-tolerant variety developed by Grupo Bioceres, Conicet, and the Universidad Nacional del Litoral. The approval of HB4 wheat and soybeans has been ongoing since 2019.
