Indonesia bans rice imports

The Indonesian President announced a ban on rice imports, according to the Antara news agency. “President Prabowo Subianto has announced that rice imports are banned,” said Indonesian Agriculture Minister Andi Amran Suleiman. According to the Minister, the country does not need to import rice due to its large reserves and projected production of 34.8 million tons in 2025.
