Indonesia's white shrimp exports to China have experienced fluctuations, with a notable decline in January followed by a surge in February, leading to a 39% year-on-year increase for the first two months. Despite this growth, China remains a minor market for Indonesian shrimp, comprising only 6.8% of total exports, while the U.S. dominates with 66%. The increase in exports is driven by high value-added products like cooked, marinated, and breaded shrimp. Challenges such as preferences for cheaper shrimp from other countries, high inventory levels, and logistical issues have slowed exports to China. Consequently, Indonesia is focusing more on high value-added markets like the U.S. and Europe, marginalizing exports to China.
