Industrial fishing in Ukraine's waters has reached almost 6,000 tons.

From January to September, industrial fishermen in Ukraine's water bodies caught a total of 5,915 tons of aquatic bioresources, reports "ProAgro Group." According to the State Fisheries Agency, the leader in industrial catch, as traditionally, is the silver carp – 2,030 tons. The main catch also included: bream – 1,198 tons, tench – 784 tons, roach – 540 tons, pikeperch – 271 tons, herbivorous fish species (crucian carp and white Amur) – 247 tons, perch – 158 tons, Black Sea sprat – 144 tons, tench – 115 tons, catfish – 89 tons, carp – 81 tons. "The reported fish catch figures, despite the complete halt of marine fishing due to the military aggression of the Russian Federation, underscore the strategic importance of fishing in inland water bodies. In times of war, the effective use of the potential of our reservoirs, estuaries, and rivers becomes a key factor in strengthening the state's food security," noted the head of the State Fisheries Agency, Igor Klimenok.
