The National Agricultural Innovation Institute (INIA) is transferring agricultural technologies and methodologies to boost guinea pig breeding, benefiting small and medium producers in the provinces of Abancay, Grau, Cotabambas, Antabamba, and Aymaraes in the Apurímac region. INIA, through the Chumbibamba Agricultural Experimental Station, reported that this technological transfer aims to promote technology adoption by producers, oriented toward improving guinea pig genetic quality, especially in aspects such as high-value forage production. The transfer was carried out through a training course, where producers learned about implementing sheds with international standards, sanitary control methods, genetic improvement techniques, nutrition systems, and other key topics to strengthen the guinea pig productive chain. By applying these methodologies, producers will improve guinea pigs' meat capacity, obtain offspring with good prolific capacity, adequate commercial weight for ...
