The National Institute for Fisheries Development Research (INIDEP) has initiated a comprehensive 16-day survey of shrimp in the San Jorge Gulf, national waters, and the Chubut coast. Conducted by scientific chief Emiliano Pisani and a team on the Second Commercial Lobster Fishing Vessel, the survey aims to document shrimp concentrations, analyze the spatial distribution of mature and impregnated females, and estimate fertility indices. The research also focuses on the composition and abundance of the epi-benthic fauna, by-catch quantification and sampling, and the characterization of zooplankton. The findings will be crucial in monitoring the shrimp population and predicting the upcoming fishing season.
