Thailand's food exports are projected to grow by 8.8% to 1.6 trillion baht in 2024, driven by increased global demand and lower raw material prices, despite challenges such as higher freight rates and a slowing US economy. The value of food exports has already risen by 9.9% to 852 billion baht in the first half of the year. However, the National Food Institute warns that Thai food manufacturers and exporters will face competition from other countries and may be negatively impacted by Thailand's increasing import of agricultural produce from China, which is affecting local farmers despite maintaining a trade surplus with China.
