Highly pathogenic avian influenza of the H5N1 subtype has been detected in mammals and wild birds in the United States and France, and in poultry in Bhutan. Additionally, the United States, Mexico, and the United Kingdom have faced avian influenza outbreaks of different subtypes. Other notable outbreaks include West Nile fever in Israel, PPR in Greece and Romania, anthrax in France, equine arteritis virus in Portugal, swine brucellosis in Germany, and rabies in Armenia and Hungary.
