The International Grains Council (IGC) has forecasted an 11% increase in global pea consumption to 16.5 million tonnes this season, driven by a significant rise in India. Despite global pea production remaining stable at 13.9 million tonnes, the ending stocks for the current season are expected to drop by 10% to 2.3 million tonnes. The largest pea exporting countries are predicted to experience a more substantial decrease in stocks by 17% to 1.8 million tonnes. Global pea trade is projected to decrease by 2% to 6.1 million tonnes in 2024, due to reduced imports from China and a 10% decrease in exports from Canada.
