South Africa is the leading supplier of oranges to the Russian market during the winter, potentially occupying 80-90% of the market, says Mzuvukile Jeff Maketuka, South African Ambassador to the Russian Federation. Despite being the third-largest exporter of citrus fruits to Russia, behind Turkey and Egypt, South Africa leads in winter supplies. The country also plans to increase its citrus exports by 25% over the next three years due to plantation expansion and favorable weather conditions for citrus growth.
