The Israeli government has announced new measures to reduce the cost of living, including the immediate abolition of customs duties on various fruits and vegetables such as avocados, garlic, peas, beans, figs, pineapples, berries, mushrooms, and more. Duties for other fresh, frozen, and canned fruits and vegetables will be gradually reduced over five years, leading to expected annual savings of around 820 new Israeli ILS shekels per household. These reforms are part of the comprehensive agricultural reform approved in the state budget for 2022 and include opening the internal market to agricultural imports, with financial support for Israeli farmers.
