Israeli authorities have prevented the sale of approximately 200 kilograms of strawberries smuggled from Gaza through tunnels around Jerusalem. The Central Enforcement and Investigation Unit of the Israel Ministry of Agriculture and the Ministry of the Interior intercepted the shipment following a report from crossing guards. The strawberries were destroyed due to health safety concerns, as they were not tested for pesticide residues and other substances required for legal sale in Israel. The smuggling of agricultural products, especially strawberries, from Gaza is a ongoing issue that the Ministry is actively trying to combat.
