Aegean agricultural exporters, representing 20% of Turkey's agricultural exports, are strengthening ties with the EU, focusing on sustainability and quality in line with the EU Green Deal. The Aegean Furniture, Paper and Forest Products Exporters' Association and the Aegean Cereals, Pulses, Oilseeds and Products Exporters' Association have engaged in discussions with EU and Turkish officials about the spice industry. Turkey's spice exports surged by 28% in the first five months of 2024, significantly supported by the Aegean Region, which is also a major producer of thyme, bay leaves, apricots, cherries, figs, and hazelnuts. The EU Mission's visit to Turkey underscores the importance of sustainable agricultural practices and the need for technical investments to meet EU regulations.
