Mushroom cultivation has seen a resurgence in interest in Turkey, with a focus on the economic potential and the health benefits of various mushroom species. Prof. Dr. Ertuğrul Kaya from Düzce University has highlighted the economic potential of several mushroom species, including the kanlıca mushroom and the emperor mushroom, which are currently underexploited. The lamb belly mushroom, grown in 21 provinces, is highly valued both domestically and internationally, with prices reaching up to 3,000 TL for the dry form. Despite the challenges, research is ongoing to find more efficient ways to cultivate these mushrooms.
