Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh of Vietnam and Mario Draghi of Italy have expressed satisfaction with the growth of their country's strategic partnership. During their phone conversation, Chinh requested Italy to quickly ratify the EU-Vietnam Investment Protection Agreement (EVIPA). The leaders also discussed strengthening exchanges and cooperation mechanisms, and Italy's continued prioritization of trade and investment in Vietnam. The call also covered the successful implementation of the Vietnam - EU Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA), which led to a 20% increase in two-way trade in 2021, despite the pandemic. Other topics included Italy's recognition of Vietnamese passports and support for Vietnamese goods in the market, Vietnam's commitment to reducing greenhouse gas emissions, and cooperation in handling a cashew export fraud case. Both Prime Ministers have shown interest in visiting each other's country and agreed to work together at multilateral forums, with a focus on sustainable development, water resource management, and disaster response.
