An new collaboration between Italy and Pakistan, titled the Olive Culture initiative, has been launched to enhance olive cultivation in Pakistan. The project will receive €1.5 million over 26 months, with the aim of boosting production and improving supply chains. It will also focus on strengthening stakeholder relationships and advancing processing techniques. This initiative is part of Italy's ongoing support for the olive sector in Pakistan, which started in 2012. The project aims to position Pakistan as a significant olive-producing nation, helping to reduce the country's trade deficit. It will also promote the health benefits of extra virgin olive oil and develop technical skills and quality standards for oil certification and phytosanitary labs.
