This trend coincides with Peru's ability to offer sustainable and high-quality production, reported the Association of Exporters (ADEX). In 2024, the global import of this fruit amounted to US$ 7,351 million, 30% more than in 2023 (US$ 5,668 million). The ranking of the main buyers was led by the USA, Netherlands, Germany, United Kingdom, Canada, China, Spain, and Hong Kong. All of them registered increases above 20%. Japan ranked 26th, experiencing a 6% increase. Its population consumes fresh, frozen, dehydrated, juice, jam, and supplement blueberries. Its main suppliers are the USA, Mexico, Chile, Canada, United Kingdom, United Arab Emirates, New Zealand, and China. Peru cannot supply it yet as it lacks the phytosanitary protocol. The National Agrarian Health Service (Senasa) is managing with its Japanese counterpart the access, which is expected to be finalized in the short term.
