Indonesia's Trade Minister, Zulkifli Hasan, is urging Japan to eliminate four tariff posts on Indonesian canned tuna exports as part of the protocol to amend the Indonesia-Japan Economic Partnership Agreement. Hasan pointed out that Japan has already eliminated some tariff posts for canned tuna from other Southeast Asian countries and hopes that they will do the same for Indonesia. He aims to announce the completion of the negotiations on the IJEPA Amendment Protocol during the 2023 ASEAN Summit in September and sign the intended protocol at the ASEAN-Japan 50th Anniversary Summit in December.
