In 2022, Japan experienced a significant increase in its purchase of Vietnamese pepper, with a 30.7% rise in volume and 49.7% surge in value compared to the previous year. The country imported approximately 2.8 thousand tons of Vietnamese pepper, valued at 17.23 million USD, which represented a slight increase in market share from 26.6% to 26.93% in Japan's total pepper imports. Overall, Japan's pepper imports saw a 29.1% increase in volume and 60.5% rise in value year-over-year, with Malaysia and Indonesia being the top two pepper suppliers.
