Japanese tangerines are an expensive fruit in the Vietnamese market, costing between 1-1.2 million VND/kg. However, recently, cheaper Chinese-grown tangerines have entered the market, selling for as low as nearly 20,000 VND/kg. Fruit sellers have seen an increase in demand for these cheaper tangerines, with some selling up to 160 boxes in a day, causing a shortage for some customers. This influx of Chinese-grown fruit has contributed to the fact that China accounts for 40.4% of Vietnam's total import value of fruit and vegetable products.
