The Rural Development Administration in South Korea has introduced the Jeju premium black pig breed 'Nanchuk Matdon' to pig farms in Gyeongnam, outside of Jeju Island for the first time. Developed in 2013 by the National Institute of Animal Science, the breed is known for its high intramuscular fat content, making its meat soft and flavorful. The distribution is expected to enhance the competitiveness of the Gyeongnam black pig industry and increase farm income.
