Jeonnam Animal Quarantine Agency, All Efforts to Maintain ASF-Free Status

The Jeonnam Provincial Animal Hygiene Testing Institute (Director Jeong Ji-young) recently announced that it is maintaining an emergency prevention posture, including operating a 24-hour emergency response center, and strengthening surveillance and detailed inspections of pig farms and related facilities, following the outbreak of African swine fever (ASF) at a pig farm in Dangjin, Chungnam. This outbreak increases the risk of regional spread, making close cooperation necessary to maintain the region as a clean area. The Jeonnam Provincial Animal Hygiene Testing Institute plans to expand the scope of detailed inspections of pig farms and livestock facilities in the Jeonnam region to block the possibility of infection. This year, Jeonnam conducted 7,678 detailed diagnostic tests at 664 pig farms, livestock-related facilities, and slaughterhouses, including vulnerable farms, to detect African swine fever virus early.
