South Korea's Jeollanam-do province has developed a comprehensive plan to mitigate potential damage to aquaculture products during the winter due to fluctuating water temperatures. The plan includes proactive measures, intensive management, disaster response, and recovery support. With the help of the National Institute of Fisheries Science, the province expects higher coastal water temperatures this winter but also foresees a possibility of a sudden cold wave that could drastically lower temperatures, posing a threat to aquaculture organisms. The province will operate a situation room for real-time water temperature updates, form a field response team, and provide funding for low-temperature response equipment such as heat pumps.
