By Supreme Resolution No. 011-2026-Minam, the Government has assigned, as of May 1, 2026, the institutional leadership of the Peruvian Amazon Research Institute (IIAP) to Jorge Manuel Revilla Chávez, in addition to his functions and until a titular is appointed. He will replace Dr. Carmen Rosa García Dávila. Revilla Chávez holds a doctorate in Agronomy from the Universidade Estadual Paulista, a master's degree in Forest Sciences and Forest Resources Management from the Universidad Nacional Agraria La Molina, and is a forestry engineer from the Universidad Nacional de Ucayali. Currently, he serves as the director and scientist of IIAP Ucayali. He is the author of various publications on the domestication and conservation of forest genetic resources in the Peruvian Amazon and has extensive experience in public management, as well as in the private and academic sectors.
