Karahive honey, produced in the high-altitude regions of Bitlis, Turkey, using traditional methods and without additives, has won awards in European competitions and is exported to several countries. Beekeepers leave hives on plateaus in the spring and bring them down in the fall for harvest. The honey, rich in proline and nutrients, is harvested in varying quantities from each hive. Bitlis expects to produce around 800 tons of honey this year, with a significant portion being exported, contributing to the local economy.
