Keitt dominates mango shipments to the United States

The National Mango Board (NMB) week 35 crop report details that the volume of mango shipped to the US market the week ending August 31 was approximately 3,505,218 boxes, weighing 4 kilograms each. Of the total, Mexico contributed 2,727,262 boxes and Brazil 777,956 boxes. The latter did not register any shipments last week for logistical reasons. While shipments from the Aztec country increased in relation to the same week last year (2,482,333 boxes), those from the South American giant showed a downward difference (801,725 boxes). The main variety of mango sent to the United States in the week of analysis was Keitt (79%). There is also limited supply of Ataulfo, Kent, Palmer and Manila Rosa. The Mexican season will extend until the last week of October. The regions of Jalisco, Southern Sinaloa and Northern Sinaloa are still harvesting and/or packing fruit, as well as the main producing areas in Brazil.
