The Kenya Agriculture and Food Authority (AFA) has announced a suspension on the export of certain avocado varieties, including Hass, Pinkerton, Fuerte, and Jumbo, for the fiscal year 2024/2025 starting October 25, to prevent the export of unripe fruits. This decision aims to meet international quality standards and is enforced to comply with the Crops (Horticultural Crops) Regulations, 2020. The AFA will continue to monitor maturity trends and may review the notice in December 2024. Additionally, a ban on macadamia harvest has been imposed from November 2, 2024, to March 1, 2025, to prevent the export of immature nuts.
