The Kenya Climate Smart Agriculture Project is aiming to boost the country's fish production to address food insecurity and poor nutrition. With a goal of increasing per capita fish consumption to 10 kg/year by 2030, the project plans to double aquaculture production to 550,000 tonnes. This will be supported by the adoption of climate-smart aquaculture technologies, research on fish seed, and the development of insect-based feeds. The project will also focus on value-addition and post-harvest technologies, social behavior change communication, and strengthening fish seed systems. The Kenya Government is also developing fish seed standards and a fish seed operational manual to improve the quality of early generation fish seed production.
