The article highlights the collaboration between the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries, and the Regional Government of Sukabumi Regency in Indonesia, to improve the survival rate of eels through the IFiSh project. Funded by the Global Environment Fund, the project aims to enhance the survival rate of eel seeds to elver using the Tonjong Fish Seed Center. The initiative, started in 2018, is part of a broader effort to mainstream inland water biodiversity conservation principles into policies, with a focus on eel species. This includes activities such as comparative studies, trainer training for eel seed resource monitoring, forming an Integrated Inland Water Management working group, and setting up a community monitoring group involving local stakeholders.
