The Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (KKP) of Indonesia is implementing three programs in 2022 to develop the marine and fisheries sector, with a focus on aquaculture. These programs include export-oriented aquaculture and the development of aquaculture villages based on local wisdom. The Directorate General of Aquaculture (DJPB) will oversee these initiatives, with a focus on four export commodities: shrimp, lobster, seaweed, and crab. The ministry aims to produce 18.77 million tons of aquaculture products, including 8.69 million tons of fish and 10.08 million tons of seaweed, and to establish 130 aquaculture villages. The DJPB will provide support and certification for these initiatives, promoting sustainable and competitive fish farming.
