[Gochang Farmers' Newspaper, Reporter Gu Jeong-min] Gochang County's representative specialty fruit, Gochang pears, have been exported to the United States. The Gochang Pear Farmers' Association (represented by Shin Jeom-sik) held a departure and memorial ceremony at the Gochang Agricultural Products Comprehensive Distribution Center on the 28th, announcing the shipment of 14 tons of Shingo pears (worth 53 million won). This year, it is planned to export approximately 300 tons (worth 1 billion won) to the United States and Taiwan. The memorial ceremony was attended by Gochang County Mayor Sim Deok-seop, county council members, officials, and farmers, who celebrated the export. Gochang pears are characterized by their high sugar content and tender flesh, grown in mineral-rich loess and exposed to the sea breeze of the West Sea, consistently popular among overseas consumers.
