Russia has initiated the mandatory labeling of a broad range of non-alcoholic beverages, including juices, nectars, and fruit drinks, in all types of packaging. This initiative is part of the third stage of soft drink labeling, already mandated for sodas, lemonades, energy drinks, and kvass. The move aims to combat counterfeit products and ensure quality, with over 121,000 participants registered in the system and 89% compliance. From 2023, cash registers will be programmed to halt sales of expired or illegal beverage products. Meanwhile, retail stores and businesses are required to submit sales data for beer and low-alcohol drinks through cash register equipment. This initiative is part of Russia's 'Honest Mark' labeling system, implemented since 2019 to combat illicit trade, which covers a wide variety of products.
