The Lagos State government in Nigeria is planning to partner with the Maize Farmers’ Association of Nigeria (MAAN) to boost silage production for livestock feed. The Commissioner for Agriculture, Abisola Olusanya, revealed this after a meeting with MAAN, stating that the collaboration aligns with the state's five-year agricultural roadmap. During the current farming season, MAAN aims to cultivate 167,000 hectares of maize, potentially yielding 835,000 metric tonnes of silage. This initiative is part of Lagos State's efforts to establish feedlots and fattening centres to ensure the traceability and hygiene of cattle for consumption.
