Farmers in the Moldovan village of Cunicha are planning to trial planting 1-2 hectares of blueberries in 2022, with aims to expand if successful. The project is supported by a trading company that exports Moldovan fruits and berries to Russia. The farmers face challenges such as large investments, the need for imported peat, and finding a qualified agronomist for blueberry cultivation. Moldova currently has only one small industrial blueberry plantation.
