The Institute of Agricultural Science and Technology of the South Central Coast (ASISOV) in Vietnam has developed a new F1 hybrid cantaloupe variety called Hoang Ngan melon, aiming to reduce the country's reliance on imported seeds. This new variety, which has been well-received in trials, can be cultivated throughout the year and is resistant to pests and diseases. It yields an average of 3.5 to 4 tons per 1,000 square meters and generates a profit of 70 to 80 million VND per 1,000 square meters. ASISOV plans to produce F1 hybrid seeds of the Hoang Ngan melon variety for both domestic and international markets, and will also engage in the production of high quality commercial melons, focusing on branding and traceability.
