Financial terms were not disclosed in the Sept. 1 announcement. Bunge completed its $8.2 billion merger with Viterra on July 2. The European Commission had required Bunge to divest the entirety of Viterra’s oilseed businesses in Hungary and Poland and logistical assets tied to those operations in giving its approval to the merger. “The transaction reflects the Group’s strategic plans to further reinforce its core merchandizing capabilities — in this case, for European grains and oilseeds origination, processing and distribution,” said Michael Gelchie, chief executive officer of LDC.
